Preserve Perfection : Care for Your Premium Equestrian Gear

At TSAR Equestrian, our leather products are crafted with the highest quality materials to ensure durability, elegance, and longevity.

Proper care is essential to maintain the beauty and functionality of your leather items. Follow these guidelines to keep your leather goods in pristine condition for years to come.

By following these care instructions, you’ll ensure that your TSAR Equestrian tack remains as luxurious and reliable as the day you bought it, giving you the performance and elegance you expect. Proper care not only extends the life of your gear but also enhances your riding experience.

1. Regular Cleaning

Daily Wipe-Down:
After each ride, wipe down your leather tack with a damp cloth to remove dirt, sweat, and grime. This helps prevent the buildup of harmful substances that can degrade the leather over time.

Mild Soap Cleaning:
For a more thorough clean, use a mild saddle soap. Dampen a sponge or cloth and apply a small amount of saddle soap. Gently clean the leather in circular motions, ensuring you reach all crevices and stitching. Be careful not to oversaturate the leather with water.

2. Conditioning Your Tack

Leather can dry out and crack if not properly conditioned, especially after exposure to sweat, sun, or rain.

Leather Conditioner:
After cleaning, apply a high-quality leather conditioner to keep the leather soft and supple. Use a soft cloth or sponge to apply the conditioner evenly, allowing it to penetrate the leather. Focus on areas that experience the most stress, such as the reins, stirrup leathers, and girth straps.

Conditioning Frequency:
For frequently used tack, condition the leather every 1-2 weeks. For less-used items, conditioning every 3-6 months is sufficient.

3. Storage Tips

Cool, Dry Environment:
Store your leather tack in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, which can fade and dry out the leather. Avoid storing tack in damp or humid conditions, as this can lead to mold and mildew.

Hanging Properly:
Hang your bridles on bridle racks and saddles on saddle stands to maintain their shape and prevent creasing. If possible, cover your tack with a breathable cover to protect it from dust and dirt while allowing air circulation.

4. Caring for Metal Fittings

Polish Metal Parts:
Keep metal fittings like buckles, rings, and stirrups clean and free from rust. Use a metal polish suitable for the type of metal used in your tack, and be careful not to get the polish on the leather.

Prevent Corrosion:
After exposure to rain or sweat, make sure to thoroughly dry the metal parts to prevent corrosion. Wipe them down with a soft, dry cloth before storing.

5. Tack Inspection

Regular Checkups:
Periodically inspect your leather tack for signs of wear and tear. Look for cracks, loose stitching, or weakened areas that may need repair. Address any issues immediately to ensure the safety and longevity of your tack.

Professional Repairs:
If your tack requires repair, seek out a professional leatherworker who specializes in equestrian gear. Avoid DIY repairs that could compromise the integrity of your tack.

6. Waterproofing (Optional)

Waterproofing Treatment:
While many leather products are naturally water-resistant, you can apply a waterproofing treatment to your tack if you ride in wet conditions frequently. Use a leather waterproofing spray or balm, and follow the manufacturer’s instructions for application.

Reapply as Needed:
Waterproofing treatments can wear off over time, especially with frequent use. Reapply the treatment periodically, especially before wet weather rides.
